How To Import Margin Trades From Kraken

Bitcoin.tax now supports margin trades made through Kraken, and the importing of margin trades is simple.

1- To start, simply go to the Trading Tab and scroll down until you see Kraken.

2- Click on the plus sign (1) next to Kraken and follow the steps (2) listed there to create and download a ledgers file from Kraken.

3- Before you import the file, make sure to check the box next to Add margin profit/losses to Income and Spending? (3).

4- Import the ledgers file.

That is it, you should now see a green successful message on the screen.

You can view the information by going to the

Income Tab

Spending Tab

You will also notice a new section in Reports and Export Tab called Margin Report.

The summary at the top of the table shows your gross profit for each currency. The "volume" is the number of units of profit, after subtracting any losses and fees. The "value" is your own currency value for reporting as income on your taxes. For fiat, you may see a different volume and value, which is due to each line being rounded to the nearest cent before being totaled into its value.

You can also click the Download button to download a CSV of each margin entry for your combined profits, losses and fees.

*Please note, Kraken margin trades via the API will be added shortly.
